  • What does the EU’s “right to be forgotten” ruling require and not require?

require people have the right to delete the data, having the power controlling over personal data in terms of privacy

not require public figures or some professionals to delete their records or news in terms of liability and democracy

  • What arguments did the NPR panelists make in favor and against the idea of adopting similar legislation in the USA?

in favor

It’s in the constitution. Giving people right to protect their privacy

against

Data controller is not someone who collects information for private use. It is the record of what people actively did.

  • Where do you stand? Should we have similar legislation in the US? What would be the benefits and what would be the drawbacks?

I think we should have the similar legislation in the US.

The benefits would be that people have the right to choose what they want to show to people and have more the feeling of security. It’s not about what we want to hide. It’ s about privacy. I think it is is the basic right that we, as human, should have .

The drawback is that setting the law would be very controversial and and difficult. It is difficult to draw a line between privacy and democracy. Some people ,like public figures, they have to have the records for people to know the truth and to understand more.
